Good news everyone: Sundance Selects has acquired the U.S. rights to “Disorder” (Maryland) which premiered earlier this week during the Cannes Film Festival. Variety is reporting the following story:
Sundance Selects is acquiring U.S. rights to Alice Winocour’s “Disorder (Maryland)” following its world premiere in Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival.
The thriller with a screenplay by Winocour, stars Matthias Schoenaerts, Diane Kruger and Paul Hamy. It was produced by Dharamsala’s Isabelle Madelaine and Darius Films’ Emilie Tisne.
Schoenaerts plays a French Special Forces soldier hired to ensure the security of Kruger’s character — the wife of a rich Lebanese businessman — at their luxurious villa. Variety‘s Guy Lodge gave the film a strong review, noting “Winocour has the gift of instilling fear at a range of tempos.”
Winocour’s first feature film, “Augustine,” premiered at the 2012 Cannes Critics Week.
The deal was negotiated by Arianna Bocco for Sundance Selects/IFC Films with Indie Sales Company’s Nicolas Eschbach on behalf of the filmmakers.
